VHB’s Cultural Resources team of architectural and archaeological resources specialists offer planning services to public and private clients along the entire East Coast. Our team includes professionals from the disciplines of architectural history, planning, and archaeology who specialize in the identification, documentation, and evaluation of cultural resources and impact assessment.

Our in-house specialists meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for history, archaeology, and architectural history (36 CFR 61).

Preservation Planning & Architectural History

Our team specializes in identifying, documenting, and evaluating historic resources; researching and developing historic contexts to support eligibility and significance arguments; and assessing impacts on resources resulting from various projects.
Regulatory Review & Compliance

We have extensive experience working with local, state, and federal historic regulatory requirements including Section 106, NEPA, Section 4(f), and state historic and environmental review processes.
Federal & State Historic Tax Credits

Our team guides clients through the complex Historic Tax Credit certification application process; we’ve successfully prepared numerous applications for a variety of redevelopment and adaptive reuse projects throughout the Northeast and beyond.
Archaeology

Our archaeologists have extensive experience assessing archaeological site sensitivity and evaluating National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility. They also perform archaeological investigations, metal detection, Ground Penetrating Radar surveys, artifact analysis and curation, and archival research.
