MassDOT ITS On-Call Services

For the past three decades, VHB has partnered with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) to improve the efficiency and safety of the Commonwealth’s roadways by providing on-call Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) support. Services have included evaluating and designing ITS field equipment, construction support, developing and integrating software systems, planning and analyzing future transportation technologies, and support for Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) initiatives. VHB has completed numerous ITS-related assignments including equipment and corridor planning and design projects for over 200 locations, IT-ITS Group support services, GIS equipment inventories and dashboards, on-call construction support, and equipment testing services. Key design elements have included Closed Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV), Variable Message Signs (VMS), Traffic Counting Stations (TCS), Road Weather Information Systems (RWIS), and Power and Communication Service Design.
