Concord Police Station Feasibility Study

Concord, NH

VHB collaborated with Lavallee Brensinger Architects and the City of Concord to conduct a feasibility study on the Concord Police Station to determine whether the city should add and renovate the existing 1950s-era facility or construct a new building. VHB was engaged to review the current and future space and operational needs of the police department, provide conceptual-level design options for construction, and include a budget for each option.

Upon completion of the study, VHB recommended that the City construct a new facility, as a new building could be designed with significantly greater efficiency compared to renovating or expanding the existing structure. From a sustainability standpoint, a newly constructed facility offers the potential for a more energy efficient design that aligns with the City’s climate action goals. The City of Concord approved our recommendations for the new police station and is now pursuing the next stages of design and construction.
