VHB Clients Secure Crucial Grants to Advance Community Projects

Several VHB clients recently secured significant grants that will fund a variety of projects aimed at enhancing community safety and sustainability.

USDOT Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grants

VHB assisted the George Washington Regional Commission in Fredericksburg, Virginia with developing a winning application for an SS4A Planning & Demonstration Grant totaling approximately $145,000. This essential funding will be vital in conducting safety analyses at multiple locations within the region.

Likewise, the City of Newport, Rhode Island secured $321,600 with application support from VHB. This grant will be used to update Newport’s comprehensive safety action plan. It will also support road safety assessments, follow-up data collection and safety analysis, roadway safety planning, an equity analysis, and stakeholder outreach and engagement activities. The infusion of funds will not only enhance safety protocols but also significantly mitigate risks associated with traffic incidents, making Newport a safer place for all road users.

Sustainable Future: EPA Climate Pollution Reduction Grant Program

The Narragansett Indian Tribe has been awarded a substantial $6.6 million grant under the EPA Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) Program. The Tribe’s proposed project will support the completion of energy audits at Tribal buildings and identify priority energy-efficiency measures. This grant will facilitate the installation of building management systems and controls, solar arrays, and battery storage systems. Such advancements are essential in curbing carbon emissions, decreasing energy demand, and reducing dependence on combustible energy sources. This replicable project promises significant financial savings and improved energy resilience, fostering a healthier environment for current and future generations. VHB assisted with preparing the grant application.
