VHB welcomes Amy Vaillancourt as Director of Environmental Services for the Connecticut office. In this role, Amy will be responsible for the growth and development of staff and clients, and she’ll play an integral role in expanding VHB’s environmental service offerings for clients across Connecticut to help advance project timelines and successfully maneuver regulatory processes. Amy’s knowledge includes redevelopment of environmentally impaired properties, and she has a passion for bringing them back to life as productive properties within communities. She specializes in completing environmental site assessments and remediation projects as well as hazardous building materials inspections, abatement, and building demolition.
As a leader in Connecticut in Brownfields assessment, remediation, and redevelopment, Amy has supported her clients over the past decade with obtaining millions of dollars in state and federal grants for Brownfield sites ranging from landfills and bulk storage petroleum facilities to manufacturing facilities, dry cleaners, gas stations, and autobody shops. Remedial activities have included soil excavation and capping, sub-slab ventilation systems, groundwater injections, and natural attenuation monitoring. She also has extensive experience with regulatory agency coordination, developer/property owner negotiations, and public outreach.
Amy worked for VHB from 2004-2012 and, prior to rejoining, was a Licensed Environmental Professional for a New England engineering consultant firm and a Brownfields Specialist for the past 10 years.
Amy has completed hundreds of projects in Connecticut with many involving sites enrolled in the CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s (CTDEEP) Property Transfer, Voluntary Remediation Program, or state liability protection programs. She’s provided services to many institutional clients such as schools and hospitals, including both state-owned and privately-owned facilities. Amy has functioned as the primary lead for contracts with municipalities throughout Connecticut. Early in her career she also served as task manager for contracts with 16 Connecticut school districts for Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) inspections and Underground Storage Tank (UST) compliance.
As a graduate of the University of New Haven where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Amy is a Licensed Environmental Professional (LEP) in Connecticut. She’s a member of the Brownfield Coalition of the Northeast (BCONE) and a member of the Environmental Professionals of Connecticut (EPOC).
