ATSIP Traffic Records 101 Online Training is Now Available

In partnership with ATSIP, VHB developed this free training, which is now open for registration.

VHB’s Traffic Records Team developed the original materials for an online training, Traffic Records 101 (TR101), which is now available on the Association of Transportation Safety Information Professionals (ATSIP) website. This training covers the six core traffic records system components (crash, roadway, driver, vehicle, citation and adjudication, and injury surveillance), plus three modules on data management topics: data integration, strategic planning, and traffic records coordinating committee management.

This initiative is part of a multi-phase project to transition the previously developed web-based training modules to the ATSIP site, refresh existing content, and potentially expand the course with new modules in the future. ATSIP selected VHB to develop the TR101 content that will reside on the ATSIP website, and VHB is responsible for updating the nine modules over the next three years. Our team has partnered with the Traffic Operations and Safety Laboratory (TOPS lab) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison on this initiative.

The goal of this project is to expand the accessibility of these modules and provide them to the target audience of transportation safety professionals. In addition, a learning management system is under development to enhance the course with tracking, quizzes, and completion certificates.

The TR101 course is free and available to the public on the ATSIP main web page. Each module contains a lesson, quiz, and feedback form. Upon completing any module (including reading the module, passing the quiz, and leaving feedback), the participants receive a completion badge to certify their success.
