Wetlands play an important role in public health and safety, provide habitat for wildlife, and can boost the economy through recreation. Ben Galligan, Environmental Scientist at VHB, recently shared insights with Rutland Magazine about connecting with others in the field through the Vermont Association for Wetlands Science (VAWS), and the importance of growing an understanding of wetlands.
VAWS is a multi-disciplinary, volunteer group that seeks to promote education of wetlands, and heighten awareness of this critical natural resource.
