Jamestown Resiliency Plan Featured in National Parks Traveler

The resiliency master plan for Jamestown will mitigate threat from flooding.

Jamestown, Virigina—one of America’s most endangered historic places—was featured in National Parks Traveler, an independent non-profit media outlet, for its sitewide resiliency master plan developed by Preservation Virginia in partnership with the Jamestown Rediscovery Foundation and VHB. 

Jamestown’s low-lying location adjacent to the James River makes it vulnerable to flooding, storm surge, and sea level rise. The resiliency master plan addresses water management, the impacts of sea level rise on the island, improving the visitor experience, and preserving the significant archeology sites, historic landscape, and waterfront.
