VHB is pleased to announce the appointment of Meredith Avery as New England Regional Manager (RM). Meredith takes on the role as VHB’s current RM, Senior Vice President Tom Jackmin, transitions to become VHB’s Chief Strategic Growth Officer (CSGO).
“Throughout her tenure at VHB, Meredith has displayed exceptional leadership qualities and a broad, strategic perspective from working across our markets,” says Bill Ashworth, Chief Operating Officer. “She is a deeply thoughtful person, an exceptional communicator, and a strategic thinker—qualities that have already made her a trusted client advisor and team leader. As Regional Manager, I am confident that she will continue to develop and maintain quality client relationships while helping VHB expand market presence across all of the region’s services.”
With more than 25 years of industry experience, Meredith has most recently served as VHB’s Managing Director of the Massachusetts Environmental team. In this role she led a team of more than 90 environmental professionals who protect natural resources and promote sustainability through permitting, planning, engineering, and remediation services across all VHB’s markets. She has extensive knowledge and experience in applying federal and state environmental laws and regulations and is a well-respected and highly sought after environmental policy consultant. She has worked on some of VHB’s largest and most complex projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
She’s an influential contributor on VHB’s Operations Group and, throughout 2023, helped to elevate the work of the Strategic Planning Committee. From 2021 to 2024, she served on the Board of Directors, helping to evolve and advance Board initiatives.
Meredith is a past Vice Chairman of the Sharon Conservation Commission and a past Chairman of the Melrose Conservation Commission and is currently serving as the Vice President and Board Member of the Massachusetts Association of Conversation Commissions. She has served on the ACEC-MA’s Environmental Affairs Committee and recently accepted the organization’s inaugural Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Commitment Award on behalf of VHB.
Meredith received her Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of New Hampshire and completed graduate coursework in Urban and Environmental Policy at Tufts University.
