VHB is pleased to welcome Michael Finch, PE, as Southeast Water Resources Director based in Orlando. Michael brings critical insight into water resources practices and will enhance how we address Florida’s and Georgia’s important water issues, like sea-level rise, increasing storm events, and wetlands protection.
Michael has more than 40 years of experience enhancing water resources in infrastructure and transportation design from roadway to light rail, including public works planning and design; plan review and code enforcement; hydrologic and hydraulic analysis; and engineering and environmental planning and design. He most recently was instrumental in leading stormwater insight for Brightline’s High Speed Rail project from the Orlando International Airport to Miami—the first private U.S. intercity passenger rail service to begin operations in a century.
“Michael brings decades of leadership and technical prowess in water resources to our transportation, real estate, and state and local government clients across Georgia and Florida,” said Matt Lamb, PE, Southeast Regional Manager.
In this role, Michael will lead an integrated team of stormwater professionals helping public and private clients like the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), Central Florida Expressway Authority, Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), Hillsborough County, Tampa Bay Water and more move critical transportation and infrastructure projects forward via technology-enabled solutions and extensive knowledge of the environment. His team collaborates with clients to help communities meet local, regional, state, and federal regulatory processes and become more resilient, including via stormwater management and design, sustainable stormwater solutions, site development services, flood analyses, federal/state/local permitting, and stormwater masterplans.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla and is a member and previous officer of the American Society of Civil Engineers-Ridge Branch/Florida section and the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC)/Florida Engineering Society (FES). He also completed the FDOT Leadership Academy.
