At VHB, we believe in the importance of nurturing talent and fostering leadership from within. Our Fall 2024 LEADS workshop recently held at the Warren Conference Center & Inn in Ashland, Massachusetts, exemplifies this commitment. Sixteen VHBers came together for the two-day workshop, marking the 23rd session of this impactful leadership development program.
Cultivating Leadership
The LEADS program is founded on the belief that effective leadership starts with self-awareness and a deep understanding of one's impact as a leader. It aims to align VHB's business goals with individual leadership priorities while bringing together leaders from various parts of the organization to strengthen relationships and reinforce VHB's status as an employer of choice.
Over two days, participants engaged in a variety of activities designed to enhance their leadership skills, including evaluating 360-degree feedback, participating in coaching sessions, practicing communication styles, and interacting with VHB senior leaders.
“The LEADS workshop lived up to its name and esteemed reputation. The program was robust and practical, providing me with a path to more effective leadership,” said Susan Lee, Creative Design Lead. “Reflecting on my 360˚ Feedback and Leadership Circle, I have better insight into how I can leverage my strengths in various interactions and target areas for shifts in mindset and growth.”
Engaging with VHB Leadership
A unique aspect of the LEADS program is the opportunity for participants to hear from company leaders, including our Chief Operations Officer Bill Ashworth, Chief Strategic Growth Officer Tom Jackmin, Chief People Officer Keri Kocur, and Senior Vice President, New England Regional Manager Meredith Avery. These leaders shared their personal journeys to leadership roles within VHB, offering valuable insights and inspiration to the participants.
“I can easily say this was the best leadership training experience I have ever experienced, and I wish I had this training years ago," said Marshall Agee, Land Engineering Senior Project Manager. “I was amazed at how much we were able to cover in the session and inspired by the the instructors and VHB leaders, as they demonstrated how to self-reflect and grow as leaders.”
