The Boston Business Journal (BBJ) has named VHB number one on its annual ranking of Best Places to Work. From among the 250 businesses surveyed, VHB was selected as the number one firm in the extra-large company category. The business publication’s Best Places to Work survey gauged employees’ perspectives on the strength of the company’s culture, from communication and confidence in leadership, to benefits and career development opportunities.
In a feature article highlighting VHB’s recognition, BBJ cited several company programs that celebrate and engage team members: the RISE President’s Awards Program, Milestones Service Awards program, and the Ignite innovation program, which cultivate new ideas, differentiating solutions, and technology-enabled concepts to support clients, projects, and internal teams. The article also highlights VHB’s employee-led philanthropic program, VHB Cares. Each office chooses the charitable organizations they wish to support, based on their personal interests and passions. VHB matches donations made by employees and also offers the flexibility to be involved in these charitable or community service projects during work hours. To date, $4.7M has been raised for charitable organizations since the company’s founding in 1979.
“Being selected as the best place to work in Greater Boston is such an honor. I’m so proud of the workplace culture at VHB,” said Meredith Avery, Senior Vice President, New England Regional Manager. “Beyond investing in our team members’ health and well-being through benefits and community-building programs, we’re dedicated to helping people develop their careers and engage in meaningful work. VHB is a collaborative environment that values innovation, ideas, and individual contributions. As a Generational Company, our people are the foundation for the future.”
VHB’s best-in-class benefits program supports employees and their families along their life journey. From a flexible, hybrid work environment and high quality medical, dental, and vision insurance programs, to more innovative programs such as Nivati–a health and mental wellness platform, Ovia–on-demand maternity and family support, and free Care.com resources.
In addition to fostering an inclusive culture where all employees have the opportunity to achieve their full potential, VHB is also entrusted by clients to take on some of the most complex and challenging projects throughout the Commonwealth, creating a more sustainable future for our communities. The firm was recently named the Top Design Firm in New England by Engineering-News-Record.
Chief People Officer Keri Kour reflected on the honor stating, “It is our people that truly help make this happen—they are incredibly talented, engaged, and involved. They support one another, and they really want to make a difference…at VHB, in our industry, and within our communities. I think what makes these workplace recognitions so special is that it is often our employees who provide their valuable input on surveys to help VHB earn these accolades.”
