For the eighth year in a row, VHB was named one of the 2024 Best Places to Work in Virginia. The statewide survey and awards program, created by Virginia Business Magazine and Best Companies Group, identifies, recognizes, and honors the best places of employment in Virginia, benefiting the state's economy, workforce, and businesses.
More than 200 companies were evaluated based on company and employee feedback, and VHB was chosen among a prestigious list of 100. VHB was ranked #15 in the Large Employers category (250+ U.S. employees) for offering a flexible work environment, emphasizing professional growth, and fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful culture.
“What an honor to be recognized for the eighth consecutive year as one of Virginia’s Best Places to Work,” said Nancy Barker, Mid-Atlantic Regional Manager. “This recognition would not be possible without direct feedback from our employees, showcasing the strength of our team culture across VHB. We are continuously striving to be a better place to work. Along with a competitive benefits program and flexible work environment, VHB offers opportunities for employees to make a difference through complex, transformational projects, and Employee Resource Groups.”
The application process involved a two-part survey consisting of an evaluation of each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems, and demographics, as well as a direct employee survey to measure the employee experience. Companies are benchmarked on a list of core values: leadership and planning; corporate culture and communication; role satisfaction; work environment; relationship with supervisor; training and benefits; pay; and overall engagement.
With four offices and more than 170 employees across Virginia, VHB’s passionate professionals include engineers, scientists, planners, designers, data scientists, and technology professionals who partner with clients in the transportation, real estate, institutional, and energy industries, as well as federal, state, and local governments. To strengthen services to clients along Virginia’s I-64 corridor, VHB recently announced the combination of the Richmond, Williamsburg, and Virginia Beach offices into one cohesive operation. Part of this growth includes the addition of Service Directors and Growth Sector Leaders who will play an instrumental role in propelling the region forward.
