VHB to Develop Stormwater Master Plan for RISD

Providence, RI

December 13, 2024

VHB is partnering with the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) to develop a Stormwater Master Plan that will guide stormwater management improvements on campus. Serving as a reference for future project design and permitting, the plan will include recommendations to enhance water quality and reduce stormwater impact on campus and downstream receiving systems through innovative management strategies.

The plan will also address stormwater regulatory requirements from the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM), Coastal Resource Management Council (CRMC), City of Providence Department of Public Works (DPW), and the Narragansett Bay Commission (NBC).

From data collection to mapping, VHB is committed to developing a plan that includes integrating stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs) and pioneering low-impact development (LID) techniques that can be integrated with campus development. Our team will be working closely with RISD to evaluate strategies for managing stormwater on campus and bring resilient and future-focused water solutions to RISD’s campus community.

With our integrated services approach and experienced water resources team, VHB is ready to take on additional stormwater challenges with innovative and practical solutions to help create more sustainable and resilient.
