Continuing their streak of award wins for outstanding work on the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail project, VHB’s Vermont team has recently received two honors: the 2024 Marvin Award for Project Design from The Lamoille County Planning Commission (LCPC) and the Grand Award in the Transportation Projects category at the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Vermont’s annual Engineering Excellence Awards. The project previously received America’s Transportation Awards People’s Choice Award.
The 2024 Marvin Award for Project Design: Excellence in Connectivity
The LCPC recognized the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail with the 2024 Marvin Award for Project Design, an accolade named in honor of Jim Marvin. Marvin was a dedicated volunteer from Johnson, VT, known for his boundless energy and passion for community improvement. The award celebrates innovative design solutions that bolster community engagement and environmental stewardship. The rail trail, a 93-mile initiative that repurposes a historic railway corridor spanning five counties, reinvigorates local economies by attracting tourism and providing recreational opportunities.
Grand Award in Transportation Projects at ACEC Engineering Excellence Awards
In addition, VHB, in collaboration with the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans), received the Grand Award in the Transportation Projects category at the recent ACEC-VT Engineering Excellence Awards. This prestigious award highlights exceptional achievements in transportation infrastructure that demonstrate innovation, complexity, and a substantial positive impact on the community.
“These awards are a testament to the dedication and ingenuity of our Vermont team,” said VHB Vermont Managing Director David Saladino. “Working with VTrans and other local partners to enhance connectivity and quality of life for Vermont’s residents has been a rewarding experience.”
Future Endeavors and Commitment to Excellence
VHB’s Vermont team continues to champion excellence in engineering and design, driven by a vision of creating better infrastructure and enhanced connectivity for all. With these recent accolades, they solidify their position as leaders in the field, setting new benchmarks for future projects.
