VHB welcomes Chris Dailey as Environmental Director for its Gulf Coast offices in Tampa and Sarasota. As we continue to strengthen our Gulf Coast operations, Chris brings critical insight to help strengthen Florida’s transportation networks while protecting our environmental resources across the state.
Chris has more than 30 years of experience as a biologist leading environmental studies for large transportation projects in Florida, including limited access highways, aviation, and ports projects. For the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), he led transformative projects including SR A1A repair and stabilization following Hurricane Matthew, and Natural Resources Evaluation for the Pensacola Bay Bridge Project Development & Environmental (PD&E) Study. His environmental analysis on the Southport Connector Expressway Conceptual, Feasibility, and Mobility Study in Orlando will help provide a new corridor for the 42-mile limited access toll facility from I-4 to SR 417. He recently completed preliminary design and environmental analysis for a wave attenuator system at the Sunshine Skyway Bridge across Tampa Bay that will enhance storm resilience and provide needed seagrass habitat.
“Chris brings solid environmental solutions across a broad range of transportation projects impacting mobility in our communities, especially those along Florida’s coastlines,” said Matt Lamb, Southeast Regional Manager. “He will be an incredible resource for our clients and a great mentor to our emerging professionals. It’s an exciting time for both our environmental and transportation teams in Florida with Chris’ addition.”
At VHB, Chris will lead integrated teams responsible for helping clients make resilient, cost-effective transportation improvements via public involvement programs, evaluation of social and environmental impacts, and financial viability analysis. He brings a wealth of experience leading PD&E and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) studies that impact transportation projects in local communities, including wetland delineations, seagrass surveys, threatened and endangered species surveys, and stakeholder engagement.
Chris is a graduate of St. Leo University with a Bachelor of Science in Education and is member of the Florida Association of Environmental Professionals (FAEP) and Society of Wetland Scientists (SWS).
