Princeton University and VHB have recently been recognized with a Distinguished Engineer Award by the NJ Alliance for Action. This prestigious award recognizes the innovative and sustainable development of Princeton’s Stadium and Meadows Neighborhoods, formally called the East and Lake Campus projects.
The development of Princeton’s Stadium and Meadows Neighborhoods are landmark projects spanning 272 acres, designed to enhance the University’s academic, research, and residential offerings. This ambitious development creates a mixed-use campus with cutting-edge buildings, extensive pedestrian and bicycle paths, transit connections, and vibrant open and recreational spaces.
VHB's role in this project has been multifaceted, encompassing civil engineering, transportation planning, and comprehensive master planning. Some standout features include implementing Complete Streets principles, advanced stormwater management and green infrastructure strategies, and efforts to achieve net-zero carbon emissions. Additionally, the project is pursuing esteemed LEED and Passive House certifications, setting new benchmarks in sustainability.
