West Central Avenue Streetscape

St. Petersburg, FL

VHB helped the City of St. Petersburg, Florida design a new, vibrant and safe streetscape for West Central Avenue, to accompany the replacement of two miles of aging water main. VHB recommended the addition of landscaped medians, streetscape elements, incorporating Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) design, crosswalk and sidewalk enhancements, water line replacements, and signal mast arm upgrades. The new sustainable landscape and hardscape design for the corridor emphasized wayfinding elements, locally sourced historical pavement patterns, and sustainable plantings. VHB also provided visioning and branding facilitation and documentation for the two-mile segment of West Central Avenue. The entire new streetscape project is documented for Envision™ certification.
