Artegon Marketplace Repositioning

Orlando, FL

VHB collaborated on the master plan for the former Artegon Marketplace and adjacent parking area, transforming the defunct mall into a vibrant, mixed-use destination. The repositioning of this property led to the creation of Dezerland Park and Deseo Grande Apartments, featuring 365 Class A units with resort amenities, street-facing retail, a hotel, and numerous entertainment venues, including a car museum, Orlando Putting Edge mini-golf course, and a trampoline park.

VHB designed multiple, safe points of connection to accommodate the increase in pedestrians, drivers, and cyclists. We focused on placemaking by designing tree-lined sidewalks, wayfinding, and green spaces for relaxation and respite. This project incorporates healthy community design and planning standards, transforming the site from languid to livable. Given its location on I-Drive, one of the busiest tourist corridors in the U.S., traffic planning played a critical role in managing the increased activity. The collaboration and support from stakeholders were invaluable in realizing this successful transformation, benefiting both the client and the Orlando community.
