As states such as Florida face a crisis in affordable housing, VHB is working with a shovel-ready approach to speed up access to housing through a variety of methods. In the Tampa Bay region, VHB is partnered with Archway Partners on several affordable housing projects, including Seminole Square Apartments, a 96-unit residential complex that will house residents who make between 30 to 80 percent of the area median income; Clearwater Gardens, an 81-unit, multi-family development located in the Downtown Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) with easy access to transit; and Casa Bel Mar Presbyterian Apartments, which offers 100 units in a mixed-use residential project located in a prime area of redevelopment.
VHB works collaboratively with the Tampa Bay community to identify the obstacles to affordable housing and develop solutions to improve and speed up delivery. We collaborate with stakeholders to identify priorities early in the process, and secure funding through cost-saving recommendations and housing grant funding opportunities, where available. Our understanding of the complex approval process coupled with our relationships with area agencies such a Southwest Florida Water Management District and experience with the environmental resources permit (ERP) application have helped to drive Archway’s projects forward.
