Good design sells. Look no further than one of the largest infill redevelopment projects in the United States. When New Broad Street Management sought to reposition the abandoned, environmentally stressed Orlando Naval Training Center into a sustainable, mixed-use community of traditional neighborhoods, they looked to VHB to join their team. Using time-tested principles of New Urbanism, our team designed a smart, healthy community mixing residential, commercial, and civic uses all in proximity, creating pedestrian friendly neighborhoods each anchored by a neighborhood park. Baldwin Park is 10 minutes from downtown Orlando and vehicular traffic proved to be a challenge. The team overcame this by designing an open community with no gates, no walls and connected by a road network with more than 25 entries and exits to disperse traffic. Today, Baldwin Park is a powerful economic engine, drawing some of the highest real estate values in the area. Good design does sell.
