The Valley Brook Village campus offers access to medical resources, skills-building classes, and inclusive, community-building programs that are invaluable to Veterans. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)-operated campus’ new Phase II development was completed in 2020 and provides 50 affordable rental apartments, with on-site support services catered to formerly homeless Veterans. Shortly after opening, the new development was fully occupied, adding permanent, stable homes to the existing 62 units built during Phase I.
VHB worked closely with the VA to design the Phase II Site Plan and provide civil engineering services, managing the process through design and into construction. The team secured the Soil Erosion and Sediment Control permit and navigated the VA permitting process.
Additionally, direct collaboration with the consultant team meant that any issues with the site survey could be easily solved. VHB partnered directly with the architect to adjust our design around the constraints of the site, keeping the entire amenity program for residents intact.
