Burlington-Graham MPO Regional Transportation Safety Plan

Burlington, NC

Partnering with the Burlington-Graham Metropolitan Planning Organization (BGMPO) and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), VHB developed a regional transportation safety plan to reduce the number of fatalities and serious injuries on roadways. The plan included the Burlington-Graham metropolitan area which encompasses 11 cities, towns, and counties, including all of Alamance County and portions of Guilford and Orange County.

This data-driven performance-based plan included a series of Safe System and equity-oriented strategies and actions to address key contributing factors to crashes in the area and identified key locations in the area that can benefit from these strategies. To gather public input in the planning process, VHB also led a series of workshops involving regional transportation committees as well as the public.
