Operation Smile is an international children’s medical charity with a network of global volunteers dedicated to helping to improve the health and lives of children. When the City of Virginia Beach donated land for their new corporate headquarters, Operation Smile relied on VHB’s team of integrated engineers to transform the 9.4-acre site and maximize its development potential. We addressed rezoning, environmental, and wetland issues. Key to the project’s success was an innovative approach to stormwater management. VHB’s design included pervious pavers and a biodetention basin to treat runoff. The new campus allowed Operation Smile to expand its services so they can help more children around the world.
