Natick Mall Repositioning

Natick, MA

Brookfield Properties relied upon VHB to help them reposition the Natick Mall as an upscale retail center in the Boston metro area. The expansion added 565,000-square-feet of gross leasable area and a high-end tenant mix including two anchors, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom, and 100 retailers and restaurants. VHB led a complex state and local permitting process, designed new landscape features which became a key selling point in attracting high-end retail tenants, and developed a creative traffic circulation and access solution that facilitated the desired project density. Recently, VHB helped reposition the empty anchor stores, JCPenney and Sears, with Wegmans and Dave & Buster’s. The new tenants increased the mix of entertainment uses and foot traffic and brought in more than 400 new jobs to the center. We continue to provide permitting and design assistance to address operational issues and the constantly evolving mix of tenants.
