Brixmor engaged VHB to drive expansion of this retail center located at the gateway to the east end of Long Island. Anchored by Costco, plans included an additional 271,485 square feet on a 41.55-acre site. VHB’s strong relationships with Suffolk County Health Department and Department of Public Works enabled our team to expedite plans, secure permits, and drive the design of the infrastructure and utilities necessary to support new retailers, including PetSmart, Marshalls, HomeSense, Ulta Beauty, and T-Mobile. Phased construction allowed for Costco to open while the new retail space and landscaped plaza were under construction. The Shops at Riverhead currently serves the Suffolk County Region, where the population more than doubles during peak season, drawing consumers from New York and beyond who vacation in the East End.
